The People’s House Queensland's Parliament House in Pictures

“For over 150 years, Parliament House has been at the centre of Queensland’s parliamentary democracy. Since 1868, Queensland’s elected and appointed representatives have assembled  here to debate and vote on new laws, voice the concerns of their constituents and raise the issues of the day. Many of the crucial decisions that have shaped Queensland have occurred in Parliament House, such as the formation of governments and the authorisation of expenditure.

This book celebrates Parliament House through photographs, the majority of which were taken in 2018 to mark the building’s 150th anniversary. The book guides the reader through  Parliament House, beginning from the moment of walking into the original entrance foyer, moving up the grand staircase and through the two legislative chambers. It then continues through the libraries, significant offices, the refreshment rooms and finally back to ground level and the gardens. I hope readers enjoy the journey.”
